Gorgeous 1777 built hotel which has been lovingly renovated to provide every comfort possible. This stylish and beautiful Old Rectory hotel is is just off the beach so a good location. The beach is long and sandy for runners and walkers alike (we didn't swim in the sea as it was too chilly). The rooms are all beautifully decorated, from the bedrooms to the restaurant and onsite bar and lounge. Open fires in the lounge make for a comfortable snug to relax and just unwind. Internally there is a cool vibe and its been tastefully interior designed, a delight to spend time in the hotel enjoying its offerings. The pool and terrace was a great place to read and chill, listening to the birds sing in the array of old tropical trees (the pool and terrace area have been cleverly built around the trees). The food is superb: a large fab choice of menu at breakfast and dinner was particularly delicious with a good selection of excellent local SA wines. The staff are friendly and helpful. providing good recommendations of places to visit and restaurants to visit, so a memorable stay for us and we will definitely visit again. Thoroughly recommended!

From the super friendly welcome at Reception from Fortune, to Yolonawa in the bar and Marvin and the rest of the staff we felt very well looked after. The food was fabulous, the room too, the staff so accommodating, in fact the whole hotel was a pleasure to stay at and the location to the beach was brilliant. We would definitely return and can thoroughly recommend Plettenburg for a stay

Gillian

The interior decor beautifully done and the old parts of the place lovingly restored. Great breakfast in the most idyllic setting - it felt like we were dining in a little piece of paradise! The manager Sam went above and beyond to make our stay memorable - we can't wait to visit again!

The history of it and the decor in the room. The food at the restaurant was also very good, and although you dont see the sea, it is a short walk away, so great location. It would be great to be able to purchase Kay and Monty wines from the hotel, I certainly would have bought a box.
